Court Directs advocateAdvocate Mahesh Sonak who is appearing for Raj Bhavan was directed by the division bench of Bombay High Court at Goa, comprising of Justice S A Bobde and FM Reis, to advice and instruct the Public Information Officer (PIO) to not to deny information to other applications under the Right to Information Act on the reason that a matter was pending in the High Court.

Appeals court allows prayer at Texas high school’s graduation

Rick Perry and state Attorney General Greg Abbott supported an emergency appeal filed by the Medina Valley Independent School District against the ban imposed by U.S. District Court Judge Fred Biery, on prayer at their graduation ceremony. The original law suit by an agnostic family whose son attends Medina Valley High School in Castroville. They were of the opinion that their son would suffer “irreparable harm” if anyone prayed at his graduation ceremony.

Clinical trials claimed 25 lives in 2010, only 5 paid compensation

Clinical trials claimed 25 lives According to the Drug Controller General of India’s (DCIG), twenty-five people died in clinical trials carried out by nine  pharmaceutical companies in 2010 out of which families of five received compensation amount ranging from Rs. 1.5 lakh to 3 lakh. Dr. Surinder Singh, DCIG, has summoned these nine pharmaceutical companies namely, Weyth, Quintiles, Lilly, Amgen, Bayer, Bristol Mayer, Sanofi, PPD and Pfizer on June 6, 2011 to question them on the amount of compensation they have decided to pay to the victims and also threatened that if they failed to pay the compensation, all the trials and present and the ones yet to start will not be allowed.
