Google illegal moneyIn an announcement made by the US Attorney Peter F Neronha, it has been declared that 230 million dollars forfeited by the Google will be distributed to the Rhode Island Law Enforcement agencies that participated in an investigation that resulted in Google forfeiting $500 million last year.

Home detention for scientist who assisted suicide

Sean DavisonSean Davison, a scientist based  in South Africa has been given a five months home detention by a court in New Zealand, who helped his mother to die has been given five months’ home detention by a court in New Zealand. The forensic specialist himself admitted that he gave his 85-year-old mother a drink laced with morphine in 2006.

Kerala high court bans dumping of wastes on road

Deciding to a PIL filed by the Kerala federation of woman lawyers, high court ruled that dumping wastes on road will be considered criminal offense.  After banning smoking in public now the high court has taken one more step ahead. This decision came when the state is flooded with the pilgrims of Sabarimala temple. A division bench comprising  Justice C.N Ramchandran Nair and Justice P.S Gopinath directed the state government to register criminal cases against those who do not comply with this order. We want the authorities concerned to implement the order strictly, the bench observed.  High court also ordered the local self government bodies to take initiative for better implementation of this order and as a result it directed that all the road sides should be clear of dumped waste. The court also directed that any person can file a complaint against other for not complying with the order.

Judicial accountability bill to be presented in parliament

law_newsMuch awaited judicial accountability bill will be presented in the winter session of the parliament.  The bill will be dealing with the corruption in the higher judiciary and will be keeping track of the judges of high courts and Supreme Court. According to which a committee will be appointed which will be consisting of ex-chief justices and it will be taking the judges of high courts and supreme courts under scrutiny.  The issue of the appointment of the judges will also be dealt via this bill as it states that a law should be made which can facilitate the formation of an independent National Judicial Oversight Committee and the Complaint Screening Committee. In addition, the committees should include legislators (one member each from both the Houses), along with members of Executive and Judiciary.
