In an announcement made by the US Attorney Peter F Neronha, it has been declared that 230 million dollars forfeited by the Google will be distributed to the Rhode Island Law Enforcement agencies that participated in an investigation that resulted in Google forfeiting $500 million last year.

The long-drawn out legal battle in the Russian Court came to an end with the dismissal of the case. The case was fought with the intention of banning the Bhagavad Gita branding it as ‘extremist’ literature which would put it in the same category as Hitler’s Mein Kampf. Hindus in Russia won the battle when a Siberian court threw out the plea of Prosecutors in the Siberian city of Tomsk to ban the holy text.

Rajaratnam begins his 11 year sentence in Massachusetts
The hedge fund Galleon group founder Raj Rajaratnam who was given the longest jail term of 11 years for indulging in insider trading, began his prison term in the Federal Medical Center in Devens, Massachusetts on Monday. This facility is located in the decommissioned military base Fort Devens, is for those inmates who require specialized or long term medical or mental health care treatment. Rajaratanam is said to be suffering from various health problems like diabetes, sleep apnea and high blood pressure and may also require a kidney transplant. The Sri Lankan born billionaire, last week had lost his appeal before the Federal Appeals Court to let him free while he appeals his conviction.
Assange to take fight to British Supreme Court
WikiLeaks Chief Julian Assange’s appeal has been allowed to the Supreme Court of Britain. The highest court of Britain will now decide whether he should be extradited to Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, to be tried for the alleged charges of molestation and rape of two women. The former hacker has been battling the extradition since a lower court ruled that he be extradited to Sweden to face the charges of sexual assault.

The long drawn out legal battle, WikiLeaks Chief Julian Assange will put forth his final plea to the highest court of London to reverse its decision to avoid his extradition to Sweden. Julian Assange was arrested a year back on allegations of sexual assault. A plea has been presented before the two Judges of the High Court for an appeal to the Supreme Court. For an appeal to be granted, the two judges should hold that there is a question of general public importance involved in the case.
Afghan rape victim gets a presidential pardon
21 year old Gulnaz who was raped in 2009 and then jailed for adultery would be released from jail. The Afghan president Hamid Karzai had earlier pardoned her on the condition that she would marry her attacker. But the victims lawyer clarified that there were no such conditions put forward for her release and that she is free to marry whomever she wants.
