Madras High Court Judge claims discrimination

judgeA Madras High Court judge has alleged that he has been subjected to victimization on the grounds of caste by his fellow lawyers and judges, accusing them of subjecting him to humiliation for taking up litigation in an independent manner. The victimized judge, Justice C S Karnanhas petitioned the National Commission for Scheduled Castes and sought an inquiry. While he has not mentioned caste as the reason for alleged prejudice against him, the judge’s decision to approach the Dalit watchdog has seen the commission view the case as one of caste discrimination.

Herman Cain changes his statement on allegations

Herman CainHerman Cain, the Republican candidate standing for the presidential elections on2012,today twisted the whole side of the story of the allegations of sexual harassment upon him by two of the female employees of the National Restaurant Association, for whom he was president from 1996 to the mid 1999.  Cain was accused of sexual misconduct on part of him by this two employees who refuses to disclose their names as a matter of privacy though the National Restaurant Association have confirmed their identities.

A milestone Act in the English Human Rights History

Human_RightsConsidered to be a landmark in the human rights history of UK, The Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Bill which was introduced to the Parliament on June 21st, 2011 reaches its third reading and report stage. The aim of the Bill is to create a more transparent and lucid justice delivery system for improving the rehabilitation rates and increasing the victim reparation levels. The third reading and report stage of the bill is scheduled to be done during the course of three days i.e. October 31st, November 1st and November 2nd. The proposed Bill comprises of four parts and 16 schedules dealing with legal aid, the cost of litigation and the punishment to be awarded to the offenders.

Palestine accepted as full member in UNESCO

Palestine_in_UNESCOOn Monday Palestine became the 195th full member of the UNESCO amid fears of a mandated cut-off of American financing from its budget. The vote of UNESCO’s full membership was 107 to 14, with 52 abstentions. The move will cost the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization one-quarter of its yearly budget — the 22% contributed by the United States (about $70 million) plus another 3% contributed by Israel. Even the American contributions to Unscheduled for this month including $60 million, would not be paid.

The controversy over world’s seventh billionth baby

7_billionth_baby31st of December was declared as the 7th billionth day by the United Nations. As this is the day when the worlds population reaches a landmark of 7 billion. Taking this into consideration there has been many hue and cries through out the world over the claims of being the 7th billionth baby. Although the united nations have declared Danica of Philippines as the seventh billionth baby by presenting a cake. In countries like Britain a baby boy Peter Bashir Yansaneh born to father Amara Yansaneh and mother Yasmin Karim was claimed the 7th billionth baby. And in India a baby girl named Nargis was the symbolic seven billionth child to be born. And similarly almost in all countries one or the other people have claimed their child to be the seventh billionth baby.  But the question arises what is great about being the 7 billionth baby? And secondly is the population estimates given by the United Nations is exact without deviations?
