The FBI in US has arrested 16 people who are alleged of their active involvement in a high profile cyber attack. The arrests spanned nine states including the District of Columbia. It is reported that more than 35 search warrants were executed by FBI who had seized many computers and other records.
The law enforcement authorities opine that they have successfully removed a number of individuals from being part of the problem which will certainly lead to information regarding their counter parts. The arrested individuals are reported to be a part of a hacking group which mounted attacks against e-bay, pay pal, visa and master cards.
The group has launched an attack by flooding the sites with data to render them inoperable. The enforcement authorities stated that people who allegedly involved in cyber attacks have to realize the risks of prison time and would be liable to stiff sentences. The persons could face up to 8 years in prison for attempting to damage a protected computer.

The website of the Tennessee state government was hit by a group of hackers. The hackers intruded into the site accessing the personal records of Tennessee citizens. The hacking group known as ANONYMOUS stated their protest against a new law which would make it a crime to post pictures online that would cause emotional distress to someone. The group has expressed that the new law would take away the free speech right. The state legislature explained that the objective behind the new law is to stop cyber bullying on social media networks but not to curb the freedom of speech. Legal experts have also taken issue with the law calling it unconstitutional.
The hackers have announced that they have hacked into the website of Italy’s cyber cops. The hackers have published information on the blog which includes some of the most important and secret information of the cyber cops on illegal and moral practices. The information and data published so far by the hackers is estimated to be 8 GB.
