US Breached International Law

According to U.N. High commissioner for Human Rights, United States of America violated the International Law by executing a Mexican national.

Humberto Leal GraciaHumberto Leal Gracia , who was convicted for the 1994 rape then murder of a 16 year old girl and was executed by by lethal injection Thursday evening in Texas. Leal was not granted consular access, as non resident American, was his right under Article 36 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. According to Navi Pillay, whether Leal got fair trial as there was denial of access concerns and he deeply regrets about this execution after a last minute of Supreme Court decision refused him for stay.

Hasan will face death penalty in deadly fort hood rampage

The suspect in the November 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood will be tried in a general court martial and could face the death penalty if convicted. This means that Major Nidal Hasan, 40, an Army psychiatrist, likely will not be able to make a plea bargain before trial concerning the 13 individuals Nidal Hasankilled and 32 wounded in the shooting spree at the Texas base. Hasan, 40, is expected to appear in a Fort Hood courtroom for an arraignment and could enter a plea.
