Mortgage Losses of $14b sets aside by BoA

Bank of America (BoA) said today, it has reached an agreement to resolve nearly all of the claims regarding to legacy countrywide issued first-lien residential mortgage-backed securitization repurchase exposure representing 530 trusts with original balance of $US424b. Bank of America says it will set aside $US14b to settle claims for angry investors for losses on dodgy mortgaged-backed securities whose collapsed triggered the 2008 financial crisis.

SUPREME COURT SLAMS STAY ON C J DINAKARAN’S IMPEACHMENT

Sikkim High Court Chief Justice PD DINAKARAN had moved the Supreme Court stay of impeachment proceedings initiated against him for alleged misconduct and corruption. He is being investigated by a three-member committee, appointed by the chairman of the Rajya Sabha, vice-president, Hamid Ansari.

INDIAN SIKH DENIED ENTRY IN AN AUSTRALIAN HOTEL OWING TO HIS TURBAN

NISHAN- sikhism flagThis is not the first time Indians are denied their natural rights in Australia. Be it students or civilians anyone of Indian origin wont be left alone to practice their natural rights in Australia. A sikh man was denied entry into a hotel in Australia owing to his religious custom of wearing the turban. He refused to take off the turban and the hotel staffs argued that they had a no head wear policy. This incident came into light when a person called the ABC radio and informed about this episode that his daughter and few friends went to ROYAL ENGLISH Hotel and one of them was asked to leave for he had a turban. When the person tried to explain that it was not a hat but a turban the hotel staff responded negatively and told “whatever you are wearing you have to remove”. The hotel authorities have been trying to contact this patron to render their apologies. But was unsuccessful in doing so, as they couldn’t contact him. The hotel management said that our hotel has a policy where the patron may be asked to remove their head wear to help the venue manage security for staff and patrons. The hotel staffs are being educated again on correct application of this policy.

SUPREME COURT REJECTS NOORANI’S PLEA

sanjay duttThe Supreme Court today dismissed Bollywood film producer SHAKEEL NOORANI’S plea for cancellation of SANJAY DUTT’S bail in the 1993 Mumbai blast case. Noorani, who was involved in a financial dispute with the actor, alleged in his plea that the actor Sanjay Dutt was behind repeated threat calls made to him. He accused the actor as the mastermind behind these calls from Karachi through the underworld.
