The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) had denied a poor ailing woman treatment which forced her to approach the Delhi High Court on the ground that she could not bear the cost of her liver transplant.
Manju Devi (40) has moved to the court to get a cure from her chronic liver disease and that she should be provided immediate medical aid and assistance. Rakesh Prabhakar, her lawyer, filed the petition which is come up today.
She was admitted on the 31st of May, 2010 and despite showing that she was below poverty line, she was asked to bear all the expenses the petition said. Since 2010, she has been admitted to AIIMS a number of times and has been dismissed to. She is now in the hospital where she was admitted on Wednesday.
