Allahabad HC defers hearing in Lakhimpur girl murder case

Lakhimpur girl murder caseOn 17th of June 2011, the division bench of Allahabad High Court fixed July 4th as the next date of hearing in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) demanding CBI to probe into the dreadful killing of a minor girl inside a police station at Lakhimpur Kheri on June 10th.

The displeasure over the interim report of the CB-CID probe submitted by the U.P government was expressed by the court and has sought a complete status report in the case before the next hearing.

The hearing of the case was deferred by the bench comprising of Justices Sri Narain Shukla and D. K. Arora, after the advocate general (AG) Jyotindra Mishra, who appearing on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh government sought time to submit the complete status report on the CD-CID probe.

It was an organisation named ‘We The People’ which filed the PIL and demanded for a CBI probe as well as a compensation of Rs. 25lakh to the family of a minor girl who was  killed during an attempt to rape by the policeman inside the Nighasan police station at Lakhimpur Kheri.

The District authorities of Lakhimpur Kheri had yesterday recommended a letter of the family members of the girl to the State government demanding for a CBI probe into the incident.
