After the complaint by the business groups, RTI activist Ramesh Agarwal has been arrested and chained to a hospital bed Chhattisgarh Raigarh. His arrest was made by the Chhattisgarh police on the basis of jindal’s complaint.

Agarwal, who is arrested after his reported speech against the jindal’s at a public hearing, is accused of defamation, insult and for making false statements.

His son Dhanjay Agarwal has said that his father was paying the price for exposing environmental violations by the powerful business groups and also claimed that, the superintend of police Rahul Sharma was already informed by him about the treatment meted to his father.

Sharma refuted this charge filed against the Chhattisgarh police and stated that the jail authorities are liable for the same and he promised that they are taking action against those police officers who are responsible for this and will be soon suspended, since chaining and handcuffing is a direct violation of Supreme Court guidelines relating to under trials and is a punishable offence.
