It was after thousands of police launched a series of protests across the country, refusing to patrol the streets, blocking roads and seizing control of their brackets, the event turned to be more violent.

President Rafael Correa had to be rescued by the military after being tear-grassed and held for several hours in a hospital by police angry about plan to cut their bonuses.

And these events were described by him as a premeditated revolt.

The six men, who included the former head of security for Ecuador’s congress and Colonel Rolando Tapia, would be sentenced later.

It has been promised by President Correa to eliminate the police officers from service as well as to punish those responsible after the dramatic events that took place on 30th of September last year.

The images of turbulence were grinned around the world along with the widespread fears that Ecuador could be witnessing a coup attempt, not merely a remonstration by police and parts of the military.
