NATO STRIKES HITS CIVILIAN HOME IN LIBYA – 7 DEAD

nato air attack in libyaOn Sunday, an allegation was raised by Libyan officials that a NATO strike hit a civilian house killing several residents and if this allegation is confirmed it could sow fresh doubts inside the alliance about its mission in Libya.

A body taken out of the rubble from the destroyed building was shown to the Reporters and later in the hospital were shown bodies of a child and two others who according to the officials were among the seven killed in the strike.

Deputy foreign minister said, “This is another sign of brutality of the West.”

NATO made no immediate comments but said in the past it only targeted military or command-and-control sites and that there were no way the reporters could verify that all the bodies came from that building.

Earlier allegations of the Libyan authorities have not been proved to be true. But if that changes it could weaken the already wavering commitment of some alliance members.

NATO has been pounding targets in Libya for months to protect the civilians who rebelled against the 41-year rule of Muammar Gaddafi is what the alliance says.
