HILLARY IN DELHI FOR INDO – US STRATEGIC DIALOGUE

HILLARY CLINTON IN INDIA The US Secretary of State Ms Hillary Rodham Clinton will b in India today to attend the second round of Indo-US strategic dialogue scheduled to be on Tuesday. The occasion will highlight a detailed round of talks on some key issues like bilateral, regional and international issues which will include situation in Afghanistan, Pakistan and security cooperation in the backdrop of the recent bomb blasts in Mumbai.

Ms. Clinton will be in India on her two day official trip and is reported to hold talks with her counterpart external affairs minister Mr. S.M.Krishna apart from calling on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and National Security Adviser Mr. Shiv Shankar Menon.

She is scheduled to be holding a breakfast meeting with Mr. Shiv Shankar Menon on Tuesday followed by the Indo-US dialogue after which she will hold talks with the Prime Minister and many other senior political leaders including UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

On Wednesday Ms. Clinton will fly down to Chennai where she is scheduled to hold meetings with several US companies. Apart from the talks on regional issues, civil nuclear cooperation will also hold an important agenda in the strategic dialogue.

It is highly notable that the first round of the strategic dialogue was held in Washington last year.
