LEGAL BATTLE OVER ANDROID MAY LEAD TO A COMPROMISE

The legal battle involving google and oracle is one of the hot topics of discussion in recent times. The primary issue of concern for both companies is android. The claims asserted by Oracle allege that Google had knowingly and wilfully infringed on its Java copyrights and patents in creation and distribution of android platform.

If these claims are found valid in the trial, Google may end up paying huge amount, depending on whether the alleged infringement was wilful or not intentional. However, in a recent statement Google has hinted at the possibility of a compromise with Oracle.

The Intellectual Property Law experts are of the opinion that Oracle is not intending to destroy or kill android; its action could have a major impact. Some patents and a sting of copyright claims are at stake presently. The Patent and Trademark Office in US has issued some non-rejections against some of them. The trial is awaited and is expected to commence around in October for three weeks.
