Siddharth Behura bail denied in 2G case

Siddharth BehuraThe former telecom secretary Siddharth Behura was denied bail by the Delhi High Court in the 2G spectrum allocation scam. He was arrested along with the former telecom minister A Raja on February 2 of this year. Siddharth Behura and A Raja are the only two people who are still in jail as all the other 12 accused have been granted bail by the various courts.

The Delhi High Court had on November 28 granted bail to five accused persons including the DMK MP Kanimozhi and also the Bollywood filmmaker Karim Morani. At that time the High Court had reserved its judgment on granting of bail to Behura on CBI’s contention that his case was different from those of the others and also that he was a public servant. The court also said that the former telecom secretary Siddharth Behura and the former telecom minister A Raja constituted the core of the conspiracy in the 2G spectrum allocation case. The former telecom minister A Raja had not yet applied for bail and now after the rejection of bail to Siddharth Behura, the former minster’s chances of getting bail has weakened. Siddharth Behura will now approach the Supreme Court on Monday for bail.
