Security breaches during Advani’s Kerala visit

Two serious security breaches had occurred during BJP Leader, L.K Advani’s Kerala visit in connection with the Jan Chetna Yatra. The State authorities ruled out the possibility of a sabotage, however the Union Home Ministry and the Central Intelligence Bureau remarked that a possibility of sabotage cannot be ruled out.

AdvaniThe first security crisis was noticed in the form of a serious technical problem with the fuel delivery system of the Tata Safari which had taken him to the Kochi Airport. A hole was noticed in the flexible hose connecting the fuel tank and the engine, which could only have been made with the help of a sharp pointed instrument, according to automobile and technical experts. However the State Police denies this and stated that this could have happened due to corrosion also. This vehicle is still being examined by a joint team from the Kerala Police and the Motor Vehicles Department.

Another security breach happened in respect of the medical team sent in the VIP convoy of L.K Advani from Tamil Nadu to Thiruvanathapuram in connection with his Jan Chetna Yatra. A medical team was sent in, but was returned by the State Police, as they found it to be inadequate, which in turn meant that a medical team was absent in the VIP convoy. The medical ambulance only had a stretcher, that too in very bad condition.
