Amendment in Prasar Bharati Bill

Prasar_Bharati_BillToday Central Government is going to make some amendment in the Prasar Bharati Bill by approving the amendment to the law governing the public broadcasting by making it clear that recruitment done between November 1997 and October 2007 will be consider as deemed deputation till retirement. The Union Cabinet cleared the proposal to make some official amendments to the Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India) Amendment Bill, 2010 pending in Rajya Sabha in Parliament.

One of the amendments is to Section 11(2) of the Act to make status of the Prasar Bharati employees clear. Now words and until their retirement have been added at the end of the section, which would make the status of the employees recruited between November 23, 1997 and October 5, 2007 as on deemed deputation to Prasar Bharati till their retirement absolutely clear and ambiguous.

The Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India) Amendment Bill, 2010 had been introduced in the Rajya Sabha In August 2010. The standing Committee had also made recommendation on the Financial Structuring of the Prasar Bharati in its report. Two agreements are also proposed to be signed by Maldives are also expected to be taken up at the meeting.
