CYBER CROOKS ATTACK 51 MALAYSIAN WEBSITES INCLUDING GOVERNMENT PORTAL

The Malaysia has recently been hit by a cyber-attack which has affected 51 websites including the government website. The attacks are reported to have started midnight infecting the websites of many departments including fire, emergency services, ministry and public transport. Some of the media websites also were unavailable and most of the services in these sites were disrupted.
Internet regulators Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) website has also been affected by the attack. The attackers had announced that the government portal would be attacked and have named the attack as “OPERATION MALAYSIA”.
It is reported that these attacks were executed in response to the protests against internet censorship. The tourism website was also affected; the attackers claim to have the details of more than 3,400 users and the details of 392 accounts were posted.
Many e-commerce websites were also brought down by this attack. The massive attack had a big impact on the Malaysian economic structure.
