China with its increasing military capabilities has started claiming its supremacy over the South China Sea. Recently china claimed some bare islands of Philippines to be a part of china. According to a report published in China the countries of the south china should be ready to bare the sound of cannons. Philippines and US are under military pact and the incident took place after Hillary Clinton was in manila on 60th anniversary of their co-operations.
The general of the Pilipino army told that the sound of canons cannot stop us from protecting our land. China’s increasingly muscular claims over the Spratlys and two other island groups one off the coast of Vietnam and another closer to Japan have also unnerved the United States. China is involved in making disputed claims to island territories in the sea that would, if recognized, give it sway over developing resources in large parts of the sea, which are among the world’s busiest shipping lanes.
The sea has substantial oil and gas reserves, which can be used to fulfil the energy requirements.
