neeraj grover murder case- maria freeAfter being acquitted in the May’2008, killing of television executive Neeraj Grover, Kannada actress Maria Monica Susairaj was released from jail here on Saturday after giving the fine of Rs. 50,000.

Susairaj was sentenced to three years in jail by a Mumbai Court on Friday for destroying the evidence in Grover murder case. Her co-accused fiancé , ex-naval officer Emile Jerome Mathew was sentenced to ten years confinement with fine of Rs. 1,00,000 as the court found him the guilty of ‘culpable homicide not amounting to murder’

In one of the most serious crime of passion, Mathew made temporarily insane so he stabbed to death Grover after he found him naked in his fiancé Susairaj’s bedroom early morning of may 7,2008.Meanwhile, the family members and friends of Neeraj Grover flayed the special treatment accorded to Susairaj as she was set free .Grover’s parents Amarnath and Neelam Grover said in Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh) that they were disappointed by the ruling and expected the death sentence against both the accused. But according to the honourable Judge Chandwani while pronouncing the verdict, observed that Mathew acted on the spur of the moment and there was no such pre-plan or pre-meditation to kill Grover .
