Negligence of nurse causes baby’s death in Bengal

negligence_medical_nurseThe state of Bengal’s poor government run hospitals becomes clear with the negligence of a nurse which caused the death of a baby boy and resulted in severe injuries to the mother. The nurse in Lalbag hospital in Murshidabad used acid instead of antiseptic to clean a pregnant lady and her child who resulted in the child’s death and severe injuries on the thigh of the lady.

However the hospital claims that the sweepers might have made a mistake and interchanged the bottles. They claim that both the solutions have the same colour. However the authorities agree that the woman was administered chemicals of acidic nature.

In Kolkata, chief minister Mamata Banerjee, also the state’s Health Minister has blamed the Left Government which was in power till she took over for Bengal’s poorly-equipped government hospitals.
