LPO is the latest iteration of India’s wildly successful off shoring industry. Business process outsourcing and call centers are already established markets in India and employ more than 20% of the youth population. This year, the Indian BPO business generated more than $100 billion in revenue.

Nowadays law school graduates are also eying the LPO – Legal Process Outsourcing sector which is one of the fastest growing sectors in India. The trend of LPO is called off shoring and involves the practice of outsourcing any activity except those where personal presence or contact is required. US have seen this potential in the hardworking Indians and have been involved widely in outsourcing some big cases and law related projects.

“The Indian court system is pretty tough. It’s not easy to make it as a litigator. Compounding that is the fact that most firms have some sort of family relationship, so unless you have a background or family influence, it’s very hard to make it as a litigator on your own,” said Masson, a transplanted US lawyer who runs the company’s litigation support services division, “That’s one of the prime drivers of the attractiveness of Legal Process Outsourcing firms, especially for women.” Growing at 60 percent a year, according to industry insiders, the Legal Outsourcing business could also dramatically increase the market for Indian lawyers over the coming years. The pressure of work and the need to deliver some high performance outwork, outsourcing is the key for law firms around US. Indians are getting benefited too. Saikat Chaudhuri, an assistant professor in the business school at the University of Pennsylvania said, “You could call it “Outsourcing 2.0” or maybe even “3.0.” Now firms are increasingly trying to leverage expertise could call it “Outsourcing 2.0” or maybe even “3.0.” Now firms are increasingly trying to leverage expertise”.
