The Central government’s attempt to control the content being uploaded on the internet has invited criticism from the international world as well. The United Nations secretary general made a strong criticism against any move that is made to restrain or control the social media, while speaking on the occasion of the UN Human Rights Day. Even the US secretary of state Hillary Clinton while speaking in The Hague also had criticized the governments who are trying to take control and impose restrictions on the internet.

The Information and technology Minister Kapil Sibal, who is in the eye of the storm has made it very clear that his only intention is to make sure that all degrading, demeaning, vulgar , obscene and content unacceptable to any community should be removed from the internet. He also said that he does not in any way intend to interfere with the social media and that the social media is very much free to form their own guidelines to reduce this menace.
