India Korea signed civil nuclear agreement

india_korea_nuclear agreementIndia and the Republic of Korea signed a civil nuclear agreement on Monday for the peaceful uses of nuclear energy. The agreement guidelines were announced in Asian-India Summit last year in Hanoi.

After an important meeting between both the Presidents the civil nuclear agreement was inked between Srikumar Banerjee, Atomic Energy Secretary, and Kim Sung-Hwan, South Korean Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade. Apart from this, two more agreements were signed on culture, sports, media exchanges and social security. India has also look at the possibility of South Korea in using ISRO facilities. India is looking to forward to launch Korean satellites on Indian rockets.

The civil aviation sector has also been approached for more direct flights between the two nations. There can be implementation in Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. Defense is also been indicated as one of the relevant topic for discussions. India is planning to open a Defense Attache’s office in Seoul. The South Korea Defense Minister is expected to visit India later this year.
