Seven killed in attack on Kabul hotel

It was the reported by the Afghan police that, a more than four hour standoff between militants and police at a hotel in the Afghan capital resulted in the death of seven people.

As per the information provided by Daoud Amin, the Deputy Police chief in Kabul, the attack ended early Wednesday when NATO helicopters fired rockets at gunmen on the rooftop of the besieged hotel and Afghan security forces stormed the top of the building.

Also he reported that, eight other people, two policemen and six civilians were wounded in the attack.

According to Sediq Sediqqi, Interior Ministry spokesman, the Inter Continental hotel, which is frequented by Afghan officials and foreign visitors, was attacked by six suicide bombers. He also added that, two of them were killed by hotel guards and four others either blew themselves up or were killed in the airstrike or by Afghan troops.

The responsibility for the attack was claimed by Taliban.
