Returning to Delhi for the first time after the June 4 crackdown at Ramlila ground, the yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Sunday renewed his attack on the government and claimed that it had “no will” to create a strong Lokpal to check corruption.

Ramdev said that, he would lend all his support to fight against corruption. But he remained silent on the questions whether he would tie up with Anna Hazare and team to fight against corruption. Also in addition to it he stated that here the main issue was to fight against corruption and he would support anyone who is fighting against it. And it was not a question of Anna or Ramdev, that was not the issue in stake and there is no need to bring in any individual. The issue is important.

He also declared that he would conduct a yatra across the whole country creating awareness among people about corruption and black money.

Ramdev also denied that he fled the ground to eliminate arrest. He defended himself by stating that he was ready to be arrested by the police, but he didn’t want to die at the hand of the police force and hence he left the ground.

Ramdev termed the crackdown on the Ramlila grounds rally as “murder of democracy”, also alleged that there had been “attempts to molest and rape women”. He also rejected the claim that he belonged to any particular political party, he stated that he only belonged to the people.

Referring to demands for a probe into the assets, Ramdev noted that he had already made public accounts of the trusts and other bodies run by his organisation.

Asserting that he had not done anything illegal or unconstitutional to attract government’s action, he said “Fighting corruption and black money can’t be considered a wrong thing. If that were so, he was ready to be pleaded guilty”.
