Today, the internet has enabled communications, exchange of information across the globe making a seamless, no boundary world. The development of web technology has also been misused by cyber criminals to commit various cyber crimes. The criminal exploits the loophole in a system thereby launching an attack from a remote location, which is difficult to trace.
In recent times, a case was reported were in there was a culpable homicide amounting to murder by a cyber-criminal. The computer criminal hacked into the web server of a hospital and the patient records were manipulated. An allergic drug was prescribed in the record. Following the record, the nurse had injected the drug and the patient had adverse effects.
After cyber tracing, it was revealed that a criminal from other continent was hired by the rival of a patient for commit a cyber-murder. This kind of crime can be considered hacking or gaining unauthorized access. There are several provisions in cyber laws of different countries.
In this case, culpable homicide amount to murder and hacking were charged against the criminal. So, such kind of crimes can be committed by misusing the technological development.
