VIRTUAL INTERNET TO DEFEND CYBER ATTACKS

virtual internet The cyber-attacks are posing a great threat to the world today. The impact of these attacks is massive not only in the nation attacked but also to the entire world. The rise in the use of internet and the internet has facilitated many cyber crimes. The technology enables the attackers to launch attacks from remote locations.

The US is in the process of creating a virtual version of the Internet to defend cyber-attacks. The virtual internet is now undergoing the phase of test.  It is known as the National Cyber Range and is set up by DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency).

The National Cyber Range is expected to create a system of networks & computers which can reboot after each simulation. This helps the government to quickly test different scenarios of cyber-attacks. It is estimated that the cost of such system is $130 million. The system would be expected to be in operation by the middle of next year.

The new internet would give an opportunity to carry out cyber warfare strategies in response to the cyber-attacks. The cyber laws also would provide legislations in regard to the new system and help to prevent cyber-attacks and punish the attackers.
