Revocation of AFPSA from Jammu and Kashmir

Under this Act, all security forces are given unrestricted and unaccounted power to carry out their operations, once an area is declared disturbed. Even a non- commissioned officer is granted the right to shoot to kill based on mere suspicion that it is necessary to do so in order to maintain the public order. The AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Rules) gives the armed forces wide powers to shoot, arrest and search, all in the name of aiding civil power.

Jammu Kashmir Cabinet approves formation of Special Court of CBI cases

jammukashmirJammu & Kashmir will now have the Special Courts for the cases relating to Central Bureau of Investigation in the state. Under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Amar Abdullah, state cabinet officially gave the press release of creating the special Court for CBI matters.  Special Court will be handling the trial and disposal matters concerning to CBI investigation. The cabinet also corresponded the approval to administer the construction of 4 Lane Bridge over the Tawi River at the estimated cost of Rs. 7 crore.
