Supreme Court cancels land allotment to Sourav Ganguly
The supreme court had cancelled the land allotment made to former Indian Cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly. The land was provided to by the Left front government on 2000 setting up an academy. The court directed Ganguly to return the land to the West Bengal Government within two weeks and also ordered the state government to return the money back to Ganguly, which he had spent for buying the Land. The appeal against Ganguly was filed by NGO Humanity challenging the allotment of land made to the former Indian captain in violation of rules at throw-away prices.
