Supreme Court grant bail to Binayak Sen’s associate in sedition case

Piyush GuhaThe Supreme Court on May 31st granted bail to Piyush Guha, an associate of noted civil rights activist Binayak Sen, who was also awarded life imprisonment in the sedition case along with the latter. The bench consists of Justices G S Singhvi and C K Prasad ordered the release of Guha on bail after hearing his counsel Mr. Prashant Bhushan who contended that the main accused Dr Sen had already been released on bail under the orders of the apex court.

The division bench of Supreme Court has also ordered to furnish Rs 2 Lakh as bail bond and two sureties of 1 lakh each for Gaha.  Kolkatha based businessman Guha was convicted with Dr. Sen and Naxalite ideologist leader Narayan Sanyal for conducting naxalite ideology and conducting campaigns against the State
