Public procurement policy of MSE’S approved by cabinet

approvedThe Public Procurement Policy for goods produced and services rendered by Micro and Small Enterprises (MSE’s) under Section 11 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Act, 2006, got the Cabinet’s approval today. This policy is aimed at improving production quality of the MSE’s and equipping them to compete with large enterprises.

MSE’s has always been a susceptible point during the volatile and recessive market conditions. The MSE’s which includes the khadi, village and coir industries, constitute an overwhelming majority of this sector, contributing significantly to the gross domestic product, manufacturing output and exports. However, these industries cannot survive without a support mechanism in the midst of corporate and other multi-national companies.

Hence the Public Procurement Policy which got a positive nod from the Cabinet today is expected to be a channel to increase the market access of the Micro and Small Enterprises (MSE’s).
