Prostitutes found in Mexican jail

jail_prostitutesIn a surprise inspection, one of the Mexican jails has revealed the presence of 19 prostitutes, 100 plasma televisions, two sacks of marijuana, and 100 cockerels for cock fighting. This is not for the first time luxury items and weapons have been found in a Mexican jail.

In July, in a jail in Sonora state, prisoners were allegedly found running a lottery to stay in a fully air conditioned luxury cell that’s equipped with a fridge, and a DVD player

An inspector from the State Commission for the Defence of Human Rights, Hipolito Lugo Cortes, an inspector from the State Commission for the Defence of Human Rights, recently denounced conditions in five prisons in Guerrero state, one of them being in Acapulco.

He said that inmates were running affairs at these prisons as per their own laws and customs, without the prison authorities controlling them by any means.

As the police was preparing to transfer the inmates to a maximum security jail from this prison in Acapulco, these things were found out. Also, six female inmates were reportedly living in the male section of the prison with two peacocks.

Mexican jails are known for their notorious nature due to overcrowding, corruption and  frequent rioting. Earlier this month, two officials were detained in the Mexican jail of Veracruz for a supposed jailbreak by two of the prisoners. And also, five prisoners died and twelve got injured in a riot in another jail in Northern Mexico.
