Prashant Bhushan, the lawyer activist of Team Anna had been attacked on Wednesday, 12^th October in his Supreme Court chamber, leaving the nation in shock. He was getting ready for a TV interview when three people dressed in lawyer’s gown barged into his chamber and assaulted him. The assaulter had entered the chamber claiming they had got prior appointment. Mr Bhushan had been immediately taken to hospital. After condemning right wing, Sri Ram Sene for the assault on him, Bhushan insisted a ban on such organizations that exercise goondaism.

The police had arrested one of the assaulter, named Inder Verma who belongs to right wing Sri Ram Sene and two others Tejinder Singh Bhulla and Vishnu Gupta members of a group called the Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena are yet to get arrested. Sources say that they will surrender before Patiala House Court soon. The attack was in protest to an earlier comment made by Mr.Bhushan on the removal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act from the Kashmir Valley. Bhushan had suggested that a referendum should be held in Kashmir.

The incident brings uncertainty over the security measures provided in the Supreme Court and can be considered as an attack on Indian culture and democracy.
