The law enforcement in Romania has arrested 90 people recently, who are suspects of online frauds. They are suspected having connections with criminal gangs who have committed many electronic frauds. The criminal groups have been alleged of electronic fraud and website defacement. More than 1000 websites have been defaced by these groups in a short time span.
The fraudsters posted fake advertisements in regard to selling cars, motor bikes, electronics and other goods. The payments were received by them through bank accounts in US, which has created by identity theft and then wired to Romania.
The advertisements were put up in famous e-commerce sites like e-bay. The loss caused by these frauds is estimated to be around $20 million. The investigation was supported by FBI and many other secret service agents in US helping the law officials to trap the criminals.
The online frauds are common generally on the famous e-commerce websites. The users should be aware of the details of the sellers, make a thorough background check before he makes any purchases through the e-commerce websites like e-bay say the authorities.
