NEW KARNATAKA LOKAYUKTA

Justice Shivraj PatilEx-judge of the SC Justice Shivraj Patil is reported to be appointed as the new Lokayukta of Karnataka taking the place of Justice Santosh Hegde retires on August 2.

Justice Patil has had the privilege of heading the one man committee which probed into the 2G spectrum allocation and has also remained as the Chief Justice of Madras and Rajasthan HCs and has even served in the Karnataka HC.
Mr. Patil has even been a member of the NHRC (the National Human Rights Commission).

Karnataka governor H R Bharadwaj has given his assent to the recommendation of the state government to make Justice Patil as the new Lokayukta of Karnataka.
The Karnataka government is reported to have suggested the name of retired Karnataka HC Judge R Guru raj as the Upalokayukta.
