SIT TO SEEK REVIEW ON BLACK MONEY CASE

black moneyA review petition is to be filed by the Union government on the Supreme Court bench against the order to appoint a Special Investigation team (SIT) which should be headed by the two retired Supreme Court judges in the black money case.

According to the Apex court the central government is not carrying out the investigation properly and dragging its feet in this case.

The Apex court directed that the government should appoint a high power intellectual committee of Union Revenue Secretary with followed by the retired Supreme Court judges B P Jeevan Reddy and judge M B Shah will be the Vice-Chairman of SIT.

The directions are given by A bench comprising Justices B Sudershan Reddy, who retired yesterday and S S Nijjar had on July 5.

The bench said that there had been a critical of the investigation carried out and is not up to the mark.  The government is now planning to challenge the direction of the court as the job of the investigation should be carried out by the special statutory investigation agencies not by the individuals.  The set up of the SIT was done on the petition by the ex-DGP Punjab, K.P.S GILL and former Union Law Minister Ram Jethmalani to bring the illegally stashed black money of the country to help out the inflanation.

The government has to file its review petition within 30days. They are opposing this SIT proposal from the starting.
