Narendra Modi’s controversial statement in China

Narendra_ModiIt seems that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is on the verge of giving up the nationalistic stance of BJP for the sake of Chinese investments in Gujarat. He also made a few controversial issues regarding the presence of Chinese troops in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir during his talks with Communist Party leaders in Beijing.

Narendra Modi stated, I told them – whatever your intentions, Pakistan is making use of you, after meeting three Chinese leaders and politburo members of the Communist Party of China and vice-chairman of the China People’s Consultative Conference. Also, he raised concern about the issue of Chinese troops being present in the disputed area of Pakistan dominated area of Kashmir in India.

Narendra Modi questioned the wisdom of TBEA, a Chinese transformer maker which displayed a wrong map of India at a function in New Delhi, resulting in war of words between a journalist and Zhang Yane ambassador of China in India. Gujarat government is particularly worried about this controversy because of signing a Rs 2500-crore contract with the Chinese company.

Chinese leaders also listened to Modi’s concerns about the long detained twenty two Gujarati diamond merchants, who have been serving jails aguishly in China without being tried in court for close to two years. As stated by him after the meeting, ‘I was not expecting a promise. You cannot get results in one meeting. But I am sure they have understood our feelings on the subject,’

Narendra Modi also said that Chinese leaders eagerly heard about Gujarat’s development. He considered this significant as he doesn’t represent the present ruling party of the country. The Gujarat Chief minister expects China to establish a warm and special relationship with Gujarat, beside their interactions with the rest of India.
