Civil Society not to attend meeting of Lokpal Draft Committee

A letter explaining the reasons for their nonattendance has been drafted by the civil society activists, led by Anna Hazare, to the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, who is the chairman of the committee after a meeting at Maharashtra Sadan and the sources made it clear that in the said letter the members of the civil society asked the Government to make their stand clear on the outstanding issue of the Lokpal Bill

Anna Hazare has endorsed the demand by Baba Ramdev for the issuance of a notification for all illegal money stashed away abroad, be declared a national asset.

In the protest against the police crackdown on Baba Ramdev and his supporters, the five members of the civil society comprising of Mr. Hazare, former law Minister Shanti Bhushan, his son Prashant Bhushan, RTI activist Aravind Kejriwal and the former Supreme Court judge Santosh Hedge announced their decision to stay away from the meeting of the Lokpal Bill Drafting committee that is scheduled later.
