Renuka  hydel power project has been started in the sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh over river Yamuna. It was mainly going to be set up for providing water to the NCR and so funds have been provided to Himachal Pradesh government to  initiate the project.

But the construction of this hydel power project has been stayed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT). This interim order has been passed by justice. Ramalu to Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation limited (HPPCL) for staying the operations of acquiring land and starting of this project.  The data collected regarding the establishment of the project and the people getting affected has been challenged. And as result the compensation being given to the people for acquiring the land has been stopped.  As it is being said that if data regarding the project is not correct then, how HPPCL can provide compensation?

As a result the clearances from National Green Tribunal regarding the project are lying in a deadlock.
