law enforcement for cyber crimesThe FBI in US has arrested 16 people who are alleged of their active involvement in a high profile cyber attack. The arrests spanned nine states including the District of Columbia. It is reported that more than 35 search warrants were executed by FBI who had seized many computers and other records.
The law enforcement authorities opine that they have successfully removed a number of individuals from being part of the problem which will certainly lead to information regarding their counter parts. The arrested individuals are reported to be a part of a hacking group which mounted attacks against e-bay, pay pal, visa and master cards.
The group has launched an attack by flooding the sites with data to render them inoperable. The enforcement authorities stated that people who allegedly involved in cyber attacks have to realize the risks of prison time and would be liable to stiff sentences. The persons could face up to 8 years in prison for attempting to damage a protected computer.

The law enforcement authorities also mentioned the reality of the fact that it is both a crime and the people involved would be jailed for committing cyber crimes. The hackers opine that their attack will provide possible benefit to network and website administrators to fix the vulnerabilities in their security system and improve the system.
