India will once again emphasize on the importance of the Kyoto Protocol at the UN climate change summit scheduled to be held at Durban this December.
Till now, the continuous refusal to accept the Kyoto Protocol by some so called developed countries has led to its future being uncertain. Countries like Japan, Canada and Russia have always refused to provide their committal to the protocol and have always been reluctant to abide by the protocol.
But India has always had faith in the Kyoto Protocol and its effectiveness. Hence it is trying to push the matter further so that it may be able to convince and maybe persuade other nations to extend negotiations on the Protocol in order to keep pace with other track of negotiations on Long-Term Cooperative Action.
