The Lone terrorist caught alive in the 26/11 Mumbai Attacks Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab has moved the SC challenging the confirmation of the Bombay HC to award him death sentence which was slapped on him by a trial court for his role in the dastardly acts.
Kasab has filed his appeal through jail authorities who sent it to the SC Secretary General. The appeal against the February 21 judgment will be processed and numbered by the Registry and then only will be listed for hearing. It is notable to recall that Kasab was a part of the 10 Pakistani terrorists who were sent to wreak havoc in Mumbai and who eventually killed 166 people and injured 238. The Bombay HC in its judgment had said that the L-e-T terrorist Kasab was a threat to the society who took seven lives and abetted in the cold-blooded murder of others. And it was proved that the conspiracy was hatched in Pakistan. The HC also had rejected Kasab’s plea that he was just an onlooker and didn’t have any role in the mass killings. The HC had confirmed that three senior police officers viz; Hemant Karkare, Ashok Kamte and Vijay Salaskar were indeed killed by him and his associate Abu Ismail.
The HC had rejected first-hand the plea of the defense that Kasab was of unsound mind.
