Judge Suspended In Tripura

jude_suspendedIn a petition filed by a lawyer before the Guwahati high court seeking directives on the defamatory remark of Ms. Shakti Nath, a judicial officer.  The Chief Justice of the High Court of Guwahati gave the direction of suspension, and thus Tripura Government suspended a judicial officer, who was appointed as the Councilor of Family Court in Court of the District and Sessions Judge, North Tripura.  Earlier Ms Shampa nath made some derogatory and defamatory remarks against the Indian judiciary and especially against the Guwahati high court. Referring to a charge sheet submitted by the police to the local court in connection with a case of her husband Somnath Ganguly, a former judge, Ms Nath on October 27 had accused the Indian judiciary and said the Guwahati High Court was ‘an organization of criminals’.

The statement in the Court had sparked off reaction in the judiciary. And a result the chief justice of Guwahati high court issued direction of her suspension to the Tripura government.
