Jailed Iran activist Reza Hoda Saber dies on hunger strike

Reza Honda SaberAs a mark of protest against the death of fellow opposition figure Haleh Sahabi, during an incident at the death of her activist father, it was on 2nd of June, 2011, Mr. Saber, who was in his 50s, began his strike.

Mr. Saber had served several prison terms since 2000 and was jailed after the disputed 2009 elections that saw President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad re-elected.

It was on 1st of June 2011, Haleh Sahabi, who was 55 years of age, died during a confrontation with security forces at the funeral of her father, Ezatollah Sahabi, who died of stroke on 30th of May, 2011 at the age of 81.

It was reported that she was allowed to be out of prison to attend the ceremony and was hit by security forces and died of a heart attack.

And the clashes with security that had taken place at Ezatollah Sahabi’s funeral were denied by Iranian officials.
