ISI BRIBED USA TO INFLUENCE ON KASHMIR ISSUE

The FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) of the United States has stated that ISI secretly paid millions of dollars to a US based NGO to influence American politicians and opinion makers on the Kashmir issue.

On Tuesday in the wake of a criminal complaint filed in a= federal court in Alexandria, Virginia, the US Justice Department said that the Kashmir American Council (KAC) based in Washington DC, had received up to $4 million in illegal contributions from the ISI.

KAC’s director and a prominent overseas Kashmiri activist, Ghulam Nabi Fai, has been arrested on the charge of having violated laws which prohibit work for foreign governments without authorization. The Justice Department has also charged a second man, Zaheer Ahmed, with recruiting dummy donors for the KAC, through whom the ISI routed the funds.

The Staff members were reported to be absent at the KAC office after the arrest of Dr. Fai.

The interception of many phone-calls has made it clear that the ISI directly controlled such activities not only of KAC but its sister institutes in Brussels and London also. Reports state that part of the funds was used to directly influence key politicians. Both the major parties in the US received donations from Mr. Fai including President Barack Obama’s campaign.

The single most contribution was made to the Republican Senator Dan Burton of around $12,000 due to his long history of hostility with India.

But there are no reasons or proof to believe that the beneficiaries of the funds who attended the KAC meetings knew anything about its funding but then also such upcoming news of ISI’s funding is set to create uproar.
