SMS, EMAILS UNDER AMBIT OF AUSTRALIAN CYBER LAW

The new provision in the Australian Cyber law directs the phone companies and internet carriers  to preserve  text messages (SMS) and the emails  containing sensitive information  and submit them to the Australian  Intelligence and Police Agencies for investigation purposes.   Investigators asked a carrier to preserve the messages, which could otherwise have been destroyed, under an informal arrangement. Agencies have urged the government to give them legal power to prevent crucial information being destroyed.
