Sources also say that his name is likely to be included in the FIR in the Aircel-Maxis deal. After Raja and Kanimozhi, Maran is the third DMk leader to be involved in the scam.
Maran’s stand has come into a question after the Aircel founder and original promoter C Sivasankaran on Monday told the CBI that Maran had told him to sell Aircel to the Malaysian Telecom firm Maxis.
But Maran opposed the claim of Sivasankaran by stating “ Sivasnkaran is a multi-millionare, no one can force him to sell his stakes and he has not forced anyone to do business with him and if it was so, he would have approached the court.
Meanwhile the Prime Minister on Monday said that the probe agencies should investigate ministers without fear or favour. He also said that the matter will be overlooked by the law enforcement agencies and the ministers should be allowed to work without fear or favour. Meanwhile, the CBI director is expected to appear before the panel on Tuesday.
