Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle is the first major Am Law 200 firm to open an office in Ashgabat, the capital of the Central Asian country of Turkmenistan. A seven-lawyer office opened last week, the firm said on Monday.

The firm has indicated an interest in further overseas expansion. In January, Curtis Mallet Chairman George Kahale III told The Am Law Daily’s Michael Goldhaber that his firm envisions opening in Buenos Aires by the end of 2011 through a merger with 25-lawyer Argentine firm Fernandez Quiroga Ayarragaray & Ocampo.

According to that January report, Curtis Mallet’s gross revenue increased almost 4 percent to $140 million in 2010, while profits per partner jumped 24 percent to $1.41 million.
