Iran developing a Nuclear Bomb: says Israel

bombIsrael’s Prime Minister said that Iran is closer to building a nuclear bomb than ever before and the full extent of the situation cannot be contemplated by the UN’s IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency).
Iran is closer to getting an (atomic) bomb than is thought,” Prime Minister Netanyahu said in remarks to cabinet ministers, quoted by an official from his office.

District hospital in Kolkata reports high infant mortality rate

infant_mortalityA hospital in Malda District of West Bengal reported high infant mortality rate in a short period of time. Over the last two days, the infant deaths reported there is as high as 9. Hospital authorities claim that they have been doing their best to avoid infant deaths and these deaths were not caused due to the negligence of the hospital authorities. Six deaths were reported on Wednesday, 9th November 2011 and three more deaths were reported on Thursday, 10th November 2011. According to the hospital authorities, of the three infants that died during the day, one suffered from Septicaemia, another had low birth-weight and the third was an instance of an intra-uterine death (dead during delivery). Reports by various NGO’s show that the health condition in West Bengal has been deteriorating since the past one year. Malnutrition and lack of good healthcare facilities is considered to be the key reason behind these infant deaths. The hospital authorities’ report that the mother’s bought in for delivery were in bad condition. The district authorities were trying their best to set up a Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) in the district as soon as possible. Over the past one month a large number of crib deaths were reported from other hospitals too like the, Dr. B.C. Roy Post Graduate Institute of Paediatric Sciences and the Burdwan Medical College and Hospital in West Bengal.

Trial in 2G scam starts

And the witnesses will be examined out of the 28 witnesses to be questioned by the November 30, 11 will be from Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) group and the first witness will be Reliance Group President AN Sethuraman as he applied for Gsm licenses on the name of swan Telecom Ltd.  ADAG-led RTL has been put on trial by the court which said Swan Telecom Pvt. Ltd was “just a mask” for RTL, which was the violation of clause 8 of the telecom policy.

Revocation of AFPSA from Jammu and Kashmir

Under this Act, all security forces are given unrestricted and unaccounted power to carry out their operations, once an area is declared disturbed. Even a non- commissioned officer is granted the right to shoot to kill based on mere suspicion that it is necessary to do so in order to maintain the public order. The AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Rules) gives the armed forces wide powers to shoot, arrest and search, all in the name of aiding civil power.

Rapist sets affire to minor girl

rape_girl_affirA minor girl  of forteen years was  allegedly set affire in the Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh by a man due to facing resistance for raping her, as reported by the police on Saturday. The girl suffered severe burnt injuries and  is currently in a very serious condition. However, the accused is missing.
The girl was a resident of Lakshmipura area  who was set afire on Thursday by Lalit Soni, a man aged nineteen, of the same area when she resisted his rape attempt. Acting on the complaint of the victim’s parents, the police, late on Friday, registered a case against Soni, who is absconding.
She alleged that Soni caught her while she was working in the fields and tried to rape her. After she raised an alarm by screaming and calling other people, Soni fired her from a burning torch and fled from the spot.

Us commander to resign due to comments made by him

A Senior US commander  named Maj Gen Peter Fuller, who was the deputy commander of Nato’s Afghan training mission,has been dismissed after he made aome offensive comments about Afghanistan’s leaders.However,it still have to be decided whether he will reassign or retire. He was not the first one to face these kind of charges ,however. Gen Stanley McChrystal, who was commander of US forces in Afghanistan in June 2010  resigned after making critical comments in the Rolling Stone magazine about  some senior members of the Obama administration.
